ABOUT US
WHO ARE WE?
The Creative Passport is an independent South African online media platform dedicated to telling the stories, interrogating the policies, and amplifying the voices that shape the Arts, Culture, and Creative Industries.
Founded to respond to the growing need for focused, ethical and informed coverage of the Cultural and Creative Industries (CCIs), The Creative Passport exists to bridge the gap between creative practice, policy, education, and public discourse. The platform provides credible journalism, analysis and commentary that supports the growth, accountability and sustainability of the creative sector in South Africa and beyond.
Our Focus
The Creative Passport publishes original content across the following focus areas:
Arts, Culture and Creative Industries Journalism
Entertainment and Media Industry News

Education, Skills Development and Capacity Building within the Creative Sector
Through written articles, interviews, opinion pieces and podcast-related content, the platform aims to inform practitioners, policymakers, institutions, funders and the public about key developments affecting the sector.
Our Editorial Approach
The Creative Passport is committed to public-interest journalism rooted in accuracy, fairness, independence and accountability. Our content is guided by a strong editorial framework that values balance, ethical reporting, and the right of reply. We seek to contextualise issues affecting the creative sector while contributing constructively to national conversations on culture, governance, transformation and economic development.
The platform prioritises original reporting and analysis, while also offering space for informed opinion and sector-based commentary. Where opinions are expressed, they are clearly identified as such.
The Creative Passport Podcast
In addition to written journalism, The Creative Passport produces a podcast that explores critical issues within the Cultural and Creative Industries. The podcast features conversations, reflections and discussions with practitioners, cultural workers, policymakers and thought leaders, offering deeper insight into the realities and challenges of the sector.
Each podcast episode is supported by written editorial content to ensure accessibility, context and accountability.
